Eaton Canyon is a very popular location for hiking because it is relatively short, flat and ends in a waterfall which is wet most of the year. The entrance is at New York & Altadena drive but can get very busy, especially at weekends. Although you’ll find the visitors car park there often fills up at weekends it’s easier to walk or drive to Pinecrest & Crescent Drive (turn right out of Boulder and keeping going up Altadena Dr) and walk straight down the canyon from the bridge.

From the top of Lake Avenue, take the trail up to the ruins of the old hotel, vernacular railway and "Echo Phone" on the top of Echo Mountain. A narrow and steep hike at times but very rewarding. Can be hot in Summer as little shade.
