Your experience at Five Gates Farm gives you the opportunity to relax and unwind in a beautiful coastal setting with stunning views of Mount Arthur and the Kahurangi mountain range. You will learn how we manage our 6 acre small holding to grow sustainable produce, our cut flower garden and care for our animals. Learn the history of our 1890's homestead and how the land has been farmed for generations since the early pioneering days in Aotearoa. Get up close and personal to hand-feed our herd of alpacas in their paddocks, spending time to get to know these amazing animals and learn all about their history, habits and how each of them have their own unique and quirky personalities. On arrival you'll be welcomed by Julie and Paul your hosts and owners of Five Gates Farm, have a safety briefing, then meet the herd. There's some great photo opportunities with stunning views in the background. A tour of the farm will include meeting all the animals at the farm and playing with our three beagles Oscar, Henry and Sam. The experience ends with a soft drink and delicious home-baking from the farm kitchen.

Departing from the Russell Wharf at 10am, we will sail out to one of the 144 islands that are only accessible by boat. On the way there we will do our best to spot our local wildlife; dolphins, penguins, sharks and our wonderful array of seabirds. Once on the island, we will spend an hour or two beach combing, hiking, kayaking, snorkelling or simply lounging in the sun! Since the Islands are bird conservation sites we will hopefully even spot a few native rare birds! After having a fresh lunch on board, we will then sail back to the Russell wharf to arrive around 330pm. Other things to note We need you to be at the Russell wharf at 9:45am for the safety briefing. Departure is at 10am, please don't be late. Like the saying "the ship has sailed", it will!

You will be picked up by a comfortable modern vehicle. We will travel in a small group for 25 minutes to the location . Once kitted up with headlights and red night torches we will begin a 2 km walk through the darkness of a native New Zealand forest. Along the way we will encounter towering trees and cascading waterfalls, giant silver ferns lighting up like fire works . The highlight would have to be the glowworms as breath taking as our clearest night sky. You will be able to get up close and fully understand this amazing creature. No two nights are ever the same. Wallabies and possums patrol the area, Weta and other insects can be encountered. Other things to note we operate in most weather conditions except high winds and severe rain

Take a journey with me deep into Middle Earth, and encounter Isengard, Amon Hen, Lothlorien Forest, The Misty Mountains and Ithilien! We will be visiting these locations as we travel from scenic Queenstown, Glenorchy and Paradise, including filming locations from The Hobbit, Wolverine, Chronicles of Narnia. Stories and secrets will be shared by a local with great insight and knowledge into the filming of these movies and also the local areas' rich history and Maori culture. You will experience some of the world’s most spectacular scenery in Mt Aspiring World Heritage Park and along one of the Worlds' most scenic highway, the Glenorchy Road. You will come away with the most breathtaking scenic photos and magical memories. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee and tea, with a light Kiwi style picnic. Take the opportunity to dress up in our Lord of the Rings Costumes, and have a photo shoot with our replica swords in Lothlorien forest. Each tour explores a wide variety of locations that Wellington has to offer, small adjustments may be made to suit the particular interests of each group or individual. Tours take approximately 3 hours Each tour will begin at the Wellington train station then onto the government precinct, older residential areas, the botanical gardens which will explore exotic and native bush as well as panoramic views, then the cafe and entertainment scene, the waterfront, some archeological sites, and finally Wellington’s main shopping street, 'The Golden Mile’. Though this may sound like a lot to fit in, Wellington is a uniquely compact city. The only way to experience it is by foot.

As you drive up the circular driveway, we'll welcome you to our little farm. We'll give you some farm boots to use during your experience. First, you'll be taken to meet our friendly pony, iconic wool sheep & goats. They will come up to you for a pat and are happy to pose for a selfie/photo. Next well take a walk to see the ducks and rare breed chickens. Then it's a short walk to see the beautiful Hororhoro Bluff mountains, with friendly goats following along. Take some photos of the stunning farmland views. Then we'll walk through the orchard to be met by our mini horse and lager horses and scottish highland cattle. Lamb and calf feeding are available if we have orphan animals. Then you can feed the horses, cows, chickens, ducks, baby animals, turkeys, goats. Another nice chance to interact with the animals and take some photos. Egg collecting, fruit, or nut picking may be available in season. 100 percent of the proceeds of this tour go back to our rescue and farm animals. A horse/pony ride can also be provided for guests who would like to add to this unique farm experience, please send a message if you would like this as we will prepare your horse ready to ride. Join me at my unique, off-grid home, Bluewater Lodge; a hidden gem off the Queen Charlotte Track . You'll create wonderful memories at my private well-being studio and be transformed by immersion in nature with yoga, meditation and forest bathing. We'll be refreshed after the experience by tea (herbal or regular). The experience will begin and end with short, independent walks along the track, depending on where you are coming from. There is no road and the only way to reach us is by boat or track! (You will need to arrange boat transport independently with one of the watertaxi providers in Picton.) Here, you will indulge in a curated selection of local food and beverages while enjoying the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. Queenstown is known for its stunning landscape, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and crystal-clear lakes. This picnic experience takes full advantage of this by setting you up in the middle of it all, surrounded by the great outdoors. Take in the views, savor the delicious food and drinks, and simply enjoy the moment. But we continue beyond the food and drinks. Taking pictures is a big part of any travel experience, so we include a phone tripod in our picnic setup. It's the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and connect with nature. You will have 2 hours to enjoy the picnic together with classic outdoor games. Smartphone tripod with bluetooth is also available to take some cool photos and videos.

At Beetopia NZ Ltd your experience starts with a short lesson on how to identify diverse castes of bees and their lifecycle plus an overview of beekeeping equipment and what it takes to become a beekeeper. We then walk through a gorgeous native forest where you will also learn about our Ngaro Hururu - NZ Native bees. At the apiary you will then put on protective clothing before your “hands-on” lessons with a beekeeper on how to inspect a beehive - if you are lucky you’ll even see the queen bee! Finally, at our Honey Shed you will have the opportunity to savour delicious New Zealand raw honey varietals from both the North & South Islands . Our Honey Tasting Shed also stocks a wide range of pure beeswax candles made of pure wax from our hives.

When you arrive on our beautiful farm and meet our friendly, naturally coloured Corriedale sheep & lambs. Followed by an explanation of how wool is shorn from the sheep, skirted, washed & dried. Next, guests will select their choice of wool, alpaca, lama and other fibres to card into large batts of fibre that are ready to process by spinning them into wool. After a spinning demonstration, guests will be able to practise spinning the fibre into their own ball of wool to take with them. If time allows they can try knitting or weaving and have a short walk around the farm to meet the other animals. This experience is suitable for beginners with no previous experience needed. Children can attend, just advise the age of the child, as I'll organise a child friendly wool activity for them. I'd like to make sure you have a fun, relaxing & unique experience that you will always remember. The scenery is spectacular and I am happy to take photos of you around the farm and with the animals. You can even select your own farm made hat as a free souvenir. Each hat is handcrafted, organically processed and shorn from our own sheeps wool, hand made and over 20 hours of work in each one. An amazing day learning to surf, at Te Arai beach. Auckland #1 east coast surf destination! Well meet up at the Te Arai Beach Reserve meet the team and get you in your wetsuit, and rash shirt! We'll go through an amazing 2 hr surf lesson! Learn about the waves, your surfboard and controlling it in the water Correct positioning, paddling and timing to catch that wave Then into the popup, surfing stance and surfing down the face of the wave Once you've got the basics we hit the water and are right there with you coaching you through each and every wave You'll be improving every attempt riding waves towards the beach and down the line of the wave. Proper surfing! Once your up and riding we'll quickly move into surfing down the wave and show you how to go faster and turn your surfboard on the wave! After the 2hr Surf Lesson youll have a 5 min break to rest, hydrate, sunblock up Then youll keep your surfboard and wetsuit and can carry on surfing after your lesson for another 2 hours, practicing what you just learnt to master the techniques. The whole beach and surfing experience is about 4-4.5 hours and is an amazing adventure and experience from beginning to end! We will depart Paihia or Russell daily at 10:00 and start sailing straight away. Travellers are encouraged to help with the sailing. We sail throughout the islands stopping at mid-day for a beach walk and snorkelling. Our yummy fresh lunch is provided on board at 13:30 (sandwich lunch with vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options). We sail back in the afternoon arriving in Paihia around 16:00. Marine life, penguins and seabirds are frequently sighted in playful groups. Don't forget your camera! Mike's special knowledge of the area allows you to sail to bays and islands that are not on the beaten path. Our ocean going yacht GUNGHA II crosses oceans annually and is a dream to sail. Please do not bring fishing gear or chilly bins.....we will be sailing! Other things to note For travellers staying in Russell we will provide a no-charge ferry transfer to and from our boarding point in Paihia. You can email us via Air BnB for that detail! All sailing trips are weather dependant. Please email within 24 hours of sailing to confirm you tour and meeting point. Very few tours are cancelled! There may be up to 20 passengers on board. Individual group sizes are limited to up to 10. You will most likely be sailing with others from all over the world!

Visit our 300 acre bull beef farm, learn a little about what and how we farm and then meet, feed and pet our collection of farm animals. The tour begins at the family house where we will get you into a pair of gumboots (don't forget to bring a pair of socks). There is no set order as to how the tour goes, it all depends on where the animals are located at that time and also what is happening on the farm. It will take one hour, possibly longer depending on how many questions are asked. We will discuss the process of rearing bulls from calves and then fattening for market. The majority of the tour is spent meeting our farm pets and feeding them so if you love animals this is your chance to get close and personal. We have 3 alpaca, pet sheep, Eponine the Kune Kune pig, a large flock of chickens and ducks. Usually we are accompanied by some of the farm dogs. From October - February the chickens and ducks are breeding so sometimes you will get to see babies. During winter our bulls are grazing on winter feed, which is quite interesting. Farming in New Zealand is different from a lot of other countries as our animals are outdoors and grass-fed for the majority of the year. Please note I do not accept last minute bookings due to work commitments so book in advance. It is sometimes possible to join an existing tour last minute. No tours are available in August/September.

We'll start with a riding lesson where I'll walk you through the fundamentals of groundwork, balance, seat, shifting your weight, reigns, leg aides and some time for you to practice on our beginners horse. I'll be with your all the way. Next we'll take a relaxing walk around the farm to meet, pat and hand feed our animals. We have specialty wool sheep, Scottish Highland cows (fluffy cows), goats, Horses, and a mini horse, goats, ducks (sometimes ducklings), Chickens (often chicks to hold), a dog, and a few more to meet. I'm happy to answer any questions you may like to ask about farming in our area. If time allows we can take a short walk up a hill to see mountain range and take some photos. This is limited to 4-5 guests due to the riding time, but let me know if you have a larger group and we can extend the time and add more guests if needed. Private experiences are also available for bookings or special occasions. This combo has been asked for by guests and we are really proud to be able to offer it as a way for guests to enjoy a farm experience with two of our most popular activities. A good idea to bring your phone/camera, warm clothes for cool days. Long pants for riding, skirts or dresses are uncomfortable for riding, long pants are the best choice.
